Okay, so here's the story.  I first came across this band the way I've come across so many others: Twitter.  If you follow me you know that I'm constantly (at the very least 10 times a day) tweeting lyrics at my favorite bands hoping that one day, these bands will make me the happiest girl in the world and tweet me back.  On a very normal day at work, one in which VERY FEW mother-daughter duos entered my store, one of these precious band boys tweeted me (which is a sure fire way to get me to listen to your music immediately and like your page).  Thank goodness for smart phones because in a matter of five minutes I had 'liked' their Facebook, followed them on Twitter and Instagram, and found my way to the "tweet for a track" app where I recieved a song download in exchange for posting about them on my status.  I snuck in one of my little black ear buds and immediately fell in the love with their track "The Wrong Way," in fact I'm listening to it as I write this post.

Mayweather's music is the perfect infusion of pop rock with indie and country influences featuring melodies similar to those of The Starting line, Every Avenue, and Parachute.  I was so excited when after purchasing their new single 'All She's Got' on itunes (only $0.99, what a bargain), a couple of tweets, and a few emails, Ryan and the guys agreed to answer some questions for me- I literally squealed with delight at 2 in the morning, good thing I live by myself.

Based out of the Hudson Valley area- Poughkeepsie, New York to be precise, the guys have been playing music together for 4 or 5 years.  Blink 182, The Starting line, Ryan Adams, and Taylor Swift rank highest among their list of musical influences- diverse and a little random, which obviously makes it perfect in my eyes.  I also loved that they gave a shout out to the "new age pop/punk thing, along with a lot of hardcore and metal in there."  Our taste in music is obviously in sync.

A few bands they listed as favorites range from Memphis May Fire, A Rocket to The Moon, and The Maine to Taylor Swift (jeez guys, pick 4 of my favorites why don't you?!)  Taylor has proved to be a major influence on the guys of Mayweather, in fact she was their answer when I asked who they would most like to share the stage with.  She is such an amazing writer and performer and has such passion for what she does- just like these guys.  They even did a cover of her song "Mine" for their Break Contest set.

The guys of Mayweather find inspiration lies within their own goals and motivations.  Ryan, their vocalist, said "hearing so many bands that are writing such amazing songs, I want to be doing what they're doing.  I want to tour the world, I want to play with my favorite bands and share the stage with artists I find truly amazing.  I want to be around people who challenge me to be a better musician."
